en I was your age, I thought I had to have life all figured out — finish school, go to college, and follow a nice, neat plan. Well, let me tell you, life doesn’t always go by the plan. I didn’t go to college, and I made a few decisions that sent me down a different road than I expected. But looking back, I wouldn’t trade the lessons I learned along the way for anything.
What I’ve found is this: being kind and working hard will open more doors than any diploma ever could. (I’m not knocking the need for or lessening the desire those have to seek higher education.) I built a good life — and even became a successful entrepreneur — just by showing up, treating folks right, and helping where I could.
Kindness may not seem like much, but it has a way of coming back around. It makes people remember you, trust you, and want to work with you. You don’t have to be perfect or have all the answers — just be the kind of person who cares.
So, if you remember one thing, let it be this: kindness never goes out of style. It’s a superpower that’ll take you farther than you ever dreamed.
